The date is on the calendar. We’ve had our "Why" conversation. You’ve picked out the textures and tones that make you feel powerful. Now, the nerves are starting to flutter.

That’s completely normal.

At Shadow to Soul, I want your session to be an experience in finding your strength, not a source of stress. To help you arrive feeling relaxed and ready to be seen, I’ve put together a simple checklist for the 24 hours leading up to our time together.

1. Hydrate and Rest

It sounds simple, but your skin and your energy level are the first things to show wear. Drink plenty of water the day before and try to get a solid night’s sleep. This isn't about "looking perfect"; it’s about feeling awake and present in your own body.

2. Moisturize (But Not Right Before!)

Lotion is great for catching the light in a moody session, but try to apply it a few hours before we start. This gives it time to soak in so you aren't "slippery" or overly shiny. Focus on elbows, knees, and any areas where you want the light to catch your silhouette.

3. Loose Clothing is Your Friend

On the day of your session, try to wear loose-fitting clothes and avoid tight socks or restrictive undergarments on your way to the studio. This prevents "compression lines" on your skin, allowing us to capture your natural texture without distractions.

4. Trust the Process (and the Team)

Remember, you aren't doing this alone. Emm and I are there to handle the lighting, the angles, and the details. Your only "job" is to breathe and exist. If you chose the "real you" approach, just arrive with clean hair and your everyday glow. If you opted for professional hair and makeup, arrive with a clean, dry face and we will take it from there.

5. Revisit Your "Why"

While you’re driving over or getting ready, take a moment to remember why you booked this. Whether it’s to celebrate a milestone or to heal from a struggle, let that intention sit with you. The photos are the physical manifestation, but the feeling of reclamation starts the moment you walk through the door.

6. Pack Your Client Guide

If you haven't already, take one last look at the Shadow to Soul Client Guide. It has all the final details on location and what to bring so you don't have to worry about a thing.

The hardest part is over—you already made the decision to show up for yourself. I can't wait to help you see the beauty that’s already there.
